Fostering Mutual Trust among Edge Devices for Securing the Fog Continuum
The vision of TrustedFog project is to enable the trustworthiness and sustainability of emerging open fog/edge computing platforms for the connection of devices and objects with dynamically configurable capabilities as well as the deployment and management of scalable, heterogeneous and secure IoT services and cross-cloud applications. TrustedFog aspires to have a big impact on the infusion of next-generation IT security and trust principles in the domain of fog computing, when at the same time it caters to evidently improve the performance, the manageability and the deployment and control operations of such services and networks, without compromising the required security levels. The implementations of TrustedFog developments contribute directly to the growing cybersecurity market, while enabling edge/fog based intelligent service provisioning. Demanding real-world scenarios (on smart energy Grids, public protection and disaster relief in IoT and drones, remote buildings maintenance and access control) are adopted to evaluate and demonstrate the proposed enabling solutions, showcasing features such as real-time responsiveness, availability, data freshness, efficient data protection and management, and industry-specific security standards.
Apart from contributing with its expertise to the planned scenarios and to the definition of the system architecture, 8BELLS undertakes the role of the project platform validation. Additionally, 8BELLS helps to achieve a high measurable impact of the project results and to ultimately lead to a successful adoption of the TrustedFog disruptive capabilities and innovative features into the ICT ecosystem by carrying out a market analysis of the roll-out activities, their potential market share, strengths and weaknesses, as well as the main characteristics of the potential stakeholders.
